And I don’t mean beer-boosted five-part
disharmonies.
disharmonies.
Elbow, Leaders of the Free
World.
Last
year, Cast of Thousands pulled “…my ribs apart/and let the sun inside.” My
second Elbow album attains a swirling heartbreaking state of Byronic grace by
the third cut, “Forget Myself,” and aches and redeems itself over and over again
until the final, lingering blow of “Puncture Repair.” As usual, others do a
better job of reviewing this album than I ever will.
The others on the playlist
are:
Spoon, Gimme
Fiction.
Wolf Parade, Apologies to the Queen
Mary.
Nickel Creek, Why Should the Fire
Die?
Richard Hawley, Coles
Corner.
They are all dangerously
good.
