I know people who love to buy notebooks, and then can’t bring themselves to spoil the notebooks by scribbling and doodling in them. “Are my scratches and curlicues worthy of this saddle-stitched deckled-edge journal of wonder?” Of course they are. It’s your journal of wonder. Still, if you need the journal equivalent of training wheels, Muji’s “weekly magazine notebook” might be good for you.
It has the feel and heft of a magazine, but it’s really a notebook. The recycled paper is smooth, on the thin side.
There’s lots and lots of paper (130 sheets, in fact), so you can doodle away happily for only Php 105.
You can just dive into this notebook and do anything you want. Me, I decided it would be perfect for hatching evil plants. No. Wait. Plans.
Recycled paper will always have bleedthrough issues with markers and even rollerballs.
Time to bring out even more playmates!
Here’s what that looks like from the back:
The Uni Style Fit 0.28 pens fared the best, followed by the ballpoint.
Pencils are the most natural fit, because the notebook welcomes rough drafts, first thoughts, zen-state doodles, brave beginnings. Who doesn’t need more of those?
